Beyond Brunch and Bunches of Flowers: The Gift Every Mom REALLY Needs Every Mother's Day (and Every Day)

I hate Mother's Day, but I love being a mother.

That's because the commercial "Mother's Day" carries a weight of expectation, and some mothers end up feeling disappointed or unappreciated.

But being a Mother is not just about today. It's also about the other 364-and-a-quarter days (except on leap years).

There are many moods on any given day, and happiness is not the only one. All our emotions and experiences make this life colourful, exciting and worth living...even if there are many moments we would rather not relive.

So, this year, I want to share with you a gift you can give yourself every day, especially when you don't know what to do or who to turn to. It's the gift of self-compassion.

Self-compassion is about being kind to yourself, understanding that human suffering is normal and being open-minded to negative emotions, not suppressing or over-dramatising them.

So, if you do one thing for yourself today and on any other day, try these Self-Compassion exercises from Dr. Kristin Neff, the world expert in the area. They have changed my parenting approach. Try them every day for 7 days and decide for yourself if they're worth keeping in your life.

Wishing you many Happy Mother's Day moments every day!

Let's make your success healthy and happy!
